|
|
I'm trying to build a motor that's controlled by the computer via a USB cable. I've managed to make the motor spin when it's connect to the USB port, but I can't control when to turn it on or off other than unplugging it.
I've tried to disable the USB port through Windows, but it doesn't cut off the power, so the motor still spins.
Any inputs from you guys? |

That will be dificult with usb. Usb ports always give power when the computer is on. Some computers even power the usb ports when the computer is off.
In order to control a motor through usb, you would need a microcontroller that is able to communicate by usb. I have not done this, so I do not know the exact details.
If you use a serial port, you could control the motor by using hyperterminal. I think serial ports only have power when data is sent or received. |
