This past weekend we went to the SoutheastCon 2011 hardware competition. We had probably the worst case of Murphy’s law ever. We had multiple sensors dying as well as parts breaking of the robot. The hardware team worked tirelessly through the night trying to used what we already had to get something worth to show on the competition course. We did not place, but we did learn a lot that will carry over to next years competition. Though all teams had problems it seems the competition was quite complex for the short time knowing the complete objectives and rules to get a robot designed and tested. Next year’s competition looks to be more straight forward as well as less restrictive on teams.
Tonight we will have our Project Crisis meeting at 6pm please drop in and help if you can.
For all those who are involved or want to be involved in SECON I’ll (Tyler) be in the IEEE lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays through out the month of December.
I’ll have the lab door open by 10:00am for those who do not have access to the lab. We need to continue testing our different sensors on the prototype as well as optimize our robots code. Hope you all can make it and remember that we’ll probably be meeting on Saturdays if that’s good for everyone. I feel that we don’t have enough time on Wednesday nights to work on the project.
